While easy adaptability and economy are part of the pleasure of staying “Like You Live There,” some rules are necessary to ensure your satisfaction as well as the economic viability of Like Living ThereSM and the property owner/manager.
By checking the box below you agree to these terms when signing a Like Living There booking agreement. “We” refers to Like Living There, and “you” refers to the renter of the Property.
Booking and deposit:
In order to confirm your booking, “Like Living There” must receive the deposit. The required deposit amount depends on the selected Property, the number of guests, and the length of your stay. This amount is shown in the price calculation that will be e-mailed to you.
Please note that the booking is not confirmed until your receipt of the e-mailed booking confirmation after Like Living There receives the deposit.
The remaining balance, along with the damage deposit, needs to be paid in cash upon arrival, unless otherwise stated. The damage deposit is refunded at your departure, after the owner/manager has inspected the accommodations.
Cancellation or changes:
Please note that these policies apply only to the Like Living There portion of your payments. Owners have their own terms, which you will be informed of in the booking e-mail.
- For notice received by Like Living There less than 30 days prior to scheduled arrival, no refunds will be issued.
- For notice received by Like Living There 30 days or more prior to scheduled arrival, the cancellation fee will be the deposit amount plus any bank or wire transfer costs.
Please note that the deposit is non-refundable, even in the event of complications beyond the control of Like Living There.
Change in the number of guests: with fewer guests, the remaining balance stays the same; with more guests, you pay the required supplement on arrival.
To change the number of days: The price will not change if you reduce the number of days after making a confirmed booking. The availability of additional days and their cost are entirely at the discretion of the Property owner/manager.
Requesting a Property change from that of your confirmed booking is considered as a de facto cancellation. To change a Property, you must make a new booking.
All cancellations or changes must be made via e-mail or fax. Cancellations or changes are not accepted by phone.
We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance with cancellation coverage.
Arrival procedure:
When you book a Property, you receive the confirmation via e-mail. Please print a copy of the e-mail to bring with you; it has all the information that you need on arrival and will facilitate communication with the owner/manager.
If you cannot provide your estimated time of arrival (ETA) when you book, please let us and the Property owner/manager know your ETA three days prior to your arrival date. This helps to ensure a prompt check in.
During your stay:
You are expected to treat your accommodation and all its furnishings with care. Any specific rules and regulations for the accommodation and its surroundings must be respected at all times for everyone’s benefit.
If any damage is done to the accommodation or its furnishings, you must inform the owner/manager immediately so that repairs can be dealt with as soon as possible.
Behavior:
You are expected to show consideration and respect towards your neighbors. As no accommodation is completely soundproof, everyone expects some level of noise from neighbors, but please be considerate of noise, particularly in the evenings and at night.
You as signer of the rental agreement are expected to ensure that your guests behave appropriately. Should you or your guests not behave in a suitable manner, the owner/manager reserves the right to evict you and your guests from the accommodation, thereby compelling you to find other accommodations with additional costs.
Cleaning:
The accommodation is cleaned prior to your arrival. On your departure, you are required take out the garbage and leave the premises neat and clean, absent which the owner/manager is entitled to charge additional fees and/or retain the damage deposit. NOTE: Some rental agreements require payment of a cleaning fee. This will be clearly shown in both your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement.
Number of guests:
You must book for the number of guests in your party. If this number varies during your stay, you must book for the highest number of persons that will occupy the accommodation. For example, on booking an accommodation for four nights, if on two nights you have four persons and two nights you have three persons, you make the booking for four persons for four nights.
Unless otherwise agreed by the owner/manager, only the guests that you indicate in the booking are authorized to use the accommodations. The number of persons who may use the Property must not exceed its allocated capacity except for children under 2 years old. In the event of any abuse of this understanding, the owner/manager is entitled to evict you and your guests, thereby compelling you to find other accommodations with additional costs.
Amendments:
In the event that the owner/manager cannot provide you with the Property that was booked, Like Living There will endeavor to find you a similar replacement accommodation subject to availability. If no agreement can be made regarding alternative accommodation, you agree with Like Living There to settle the matter with a full deposit refund without other liability.
Responsibility:
Like Living There provides a convenient online booking interface between you and the accommodation owner/manager(s). In this limited role, Like Living There is not responsible for delays, accidents, losses due to fire or criminal behavior, change of schedules or rates, damages either to persons or to property, or for any direct or indirect damages that may occur during the stay-period at the accommodation.
Like Living There and its employees are thus not responsible for third party errors, omissions, or misrepresentations, personal injury or property damage before, during, or after a stay in an accommodation booked through Like Living There, disputes between the client and any third party, or the content of third party links on its web site.
Like Living There’s service is limited to displaying accommodations and making bookings as purchased by the client, a role that concludes upon the booking confirmation by e-mail. Like Living There’s responsibility/liability is limited to the amount paid for the booking service.
Because Like Living There is not part of the rental agreement, any problems or complaints must be addressed to the accommodation owner/manager during the stay.
Claims:
In the unlikely event of any claim between Like Living there and you or your guests, the parties agree exclusively to use the dispute resolution procedures available through PayPal or the credit card company used in the transaction unless pre-empted by statutory consumer rights.
Our web site:
All information and resources regarding an accommodation are supplied by the accommodation owner/manager. Although Like Living There does its best to verify and to update the information provided by other sources to its web site, Like Living There cannot guarantee or vouch for the third party promotional content. Like Living There reserves the right to update at any time its terms and conditions and its web site information.
It is the client’s responsibility to review these terms and conditions in case of change. By agreeing to use the Like Living There service, the client agrees to these terms and conditions including changes as they occur from time to time.
